Service

  • Hiring committee, Committee Chair. (August 20, 2021 - Present). 

Search committee chair in the 2022 temporary CAT II (CS lecturer) search, Department of Computer Sciences. We are running a temporary CAT II position search this semester to fill a temporary CAT II position for 2022 Spring.

  • Affiliate Coordinator for Computer Science. (July 1, 2020 - Present). 

- To ensure that all classes have qualified instructors beyond those taught by tenured and tenure track faculty.
- To maintain a small ongoing hiring program of affiliates by posting and monitoring job announcements, scheduling interviews, and helping onboard new members of the affiliate pool.
- To coach affiliates to enhance their teaching performance and classroom management skills.
- Maintain contact at least once a semester with all affiliates regardless if they are teaching in that semester.
- To deal with student issues and concerns related to affiliate faculty.
- To help with the acquisition of teaching materials for the affiliates including books, software, etc.
- Other duties as assigned by the chair.

  • Computer Science Tutoring Supervisor, Faculty Advisor. (July 1, 2020 - Present). 

Recruit student tutors, and help with the tutor hiring process.
Mentoring student tutors, working as student tutors' point of contact.
Monitor tutors' work and cooperate with Student Employment in the payment process.

  • CS1400/2400 course committee, Committee Member. (August 28, 2017 - Present). 

Keep track of the different topics covered in the class.
Ensure consistency of different sections.

  • Hiring committee, Committee Chair. (April 20, 2021 - June 1, 2021). 

Search committee chair in the 2021 temporary CAT II CS lecturer search, Department of Computer Sciences. We have hired professor Ranjan for a temporary CAT II position in this search.

Search committee chair in the 2020-2021 CAT I tenure track position search, Department of Computer Sciences.

  • Hiring committee, Committee Member. (August 20, 2019 - May 1, 2020). 

Committee member in the hiring committee for CS group of Math and Computer Science department. We conducted a search to fill two tenure-track lines and successfully hired our new faculty member Dr. Steve Geinitz this year.

  • Software and Hardware, Committee Member. (August 28, 2017 - April 1, 2020). 

Course content design and revision.

  • CS1050/2050 course committee, Committee Member. (August 28, 2017 - January 1, 2020).

Committee member in the hiring committee for CS group of Math and Computer Science department. We conducted a search to fill two tenure-track lines and successfully hired our new faculty member, Dr. Thyago Mota, this year.

  • CHAS Curriculum Committee, Committee Member. (May 1, 2021 - Present).

I joined the CHAS Curriculum Committee after Computer Science Department moved to CHAS from CLAS.

  • NSA-CAE Committee of Cybersecurity Program, Committee Member. (September 1, 2020 - Present). 

Serve as a computer science representative in this committee to help with the preparation work of NSA-CAE certification/application.

  • Scholarship Committee of Cybersecurity Program, Committee Member. (September 1, 2020 - Present). 

Serve as a computer science representative in this committee to help with student scholarship evaluation.

  • Affiliate Coordinator for Computer Science in Cybersecurity Program. (July 1, 2020 - Present).

- To collaborate with the other involved departments to work on tasks related to and benefiting the cybersecurity programs.
- To serve as the point of contact at our department for advising cybersecurity students on courses taught by our department.
- Other duties as assigned by the chair.

  • LAS Curriculum Committee, Committee Member. (August 1, 2018 - August 1, 2019). 

The LAS Curriculum Committee reviews the curriculum proposals from LAS departments in Curriculog and approves them or requests revisions. The committee is split into two subcommittees to decrease the workload. The subcommittees meet every week or every other week, depending on the number of curriculum proposals to review before the deadlines.

Serve as one of the professors from MSU Denver that organize the student tours for 30 students at the Super Computing Conference 2019 in Denver.

External Connections and Partnerships

  • (January 1, 2020 - September 30, 2020). Connection with a local company "Travelport"

Built a connection between the company and the ACM student chapter. Helped to organize several on-campus workshops.

  • (January 1, 2020 - September 30, 2020). Connection with a local company "Brooksource"

Built a connection between the company and the ACM student chapter. Helped to organize several on-campus workshops.

  • (March 1, 2019 - September 30, 2020). Connection with CU Denver

Built connections with multiple faculty members in CU Denver and co-advised students in machine learning projects.

  • (May 1, 2019 - September 1, 2020). Connection with a local company "Charles Schwab"

Built a connection between the company and the ACM student chapter. Helped to organize several on-campus workshops and the C2C program of this company.

  • (March 1, 2019). Connection with the company "Yimian Data"

Organized a "coffee meeting" for students interested in machine learning with General Director, Dr. Rong Zhang, from the startup company "Yimian Data".

Helped Dr. Steve Beaty. with a local nonprofit organization for their Kickoff event 2018 at MSU Denver.
